What it is

The free multiband compressor that became the secret sauce of half of modern electronic music.

Originally a multiband preset for Ableton's stock compressor, Xfer remade it as a standalone plugin and gave it away free. The signature OTT sound — bright, present, in-your-face — comes from heavy upward and downward compression across three bands simultaneously. Use on synths for sheen, drums for punch, 808s for streaming-platform loudness.
